Dr. Staley is double board-certified in psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Consultation-liaison psychiatry is the subspecialty devoted to psychiatric care in patients with complex co-occurring medical illness.
A significant focus of her practice is perinatal and reproductive psychiatry. She provides expert medication management and risk-benefit counseling for women during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the perimenopausal transition: decisions where both treating and not treating carry real risks, and where genuinely qualified guidance is scarce. Psychiatrists trained in reproductive mental health are scarce nationally.
Her consultation-liaison training means she is equally at home managing psychiatric medications alongside serious medical conditions (cancer treatment, autoimmune disease, organ transplant) in coordination with the rest of a patient’s medical team.
